Football: Catania players on the Aic site, they don’t pay us wages

(ANSA) – CATANIA, MARCH 24 – Despite the sureties paid to register for the Serie C football championship to guarantee their salaries, the Catania players did not receive the salaries of November and December 2021. This is what was reported by the athletes themselves to the Italian Footballers’ Association (Aic) which publishes a letter from the players of the club declared bankrupt in December 2021 on its website and for which the Court received an offer to purchase the football branch.

“We have waited until today to publicly take a position on our situation – reads the letter from the Catania players on the Aic website – we have given our best on the pitch showing our professionalism and estranging ourselves from everyday worries. Many of us, with families dependent and away from home, they had to do their utmost to overcome serious economic difficulties. In all this situation we have repeatedly asked the Bankruptcy Trustee for clarification, which has never responded to our requests. In particular – explain the Catania players – we requested that it be explained to us why, despite the presence of important sureties to guarantee our salaries (given by the Company upon registration to the championship), these were not used to pay us the outstanding salaries for November and December. Today we are faced with a complex economic situation given that, compared to our colleagues in the a Other companies, we are denied the possibility even only to take legal action for the recovery of arrears, by virtue of the bankruptcy of the company. At this point, given the absence of answers – the Catania footballers conclude – we are publicly requesting a formal meeting with the bankruptcy trustee to understand what future developments will be and what we should expect from the proposed sale of the sports branch of Calcio Catania ” .
