(ANSA) – LONDON, MARCH 30 – A young Englishman was sentenced to six weeks in prison for racist insults aimed at Marcus Rashford after the final of Euro 2020, lost by England against Italy also due to the penalty missed by the Manchester United center forward. After initially denying any wrongdoing, Justin Lee Price, 19 from Worcester, admitted to Kidderminster Magistrates that he was the author of a series of offensive tweets against Rahford.
“Price had targeted the footballer for the color of his skin,” said prosecutor Mark Johnson. “His actions were driven by racist intent and are in effect hate crimes. Whoever discriminates against footballers ruins the game. football for all. I hope this case makes it clear to everyone that we will not tolerate racism, and that the perpetrators will be prosecuted by the law. ” (HANDLE).
