Hall of fame: the award named after Davide Astori goes to Kjaer

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 12 – “I remember Davide on the pitch very well and obviously I also remember his tragic end well. Both Pioli and my teammates told me about him, I know that his death was shocking for all of Italy and for the whole world of football. Receiving the award dedicated to Davide means a lot, it makes me happy and proud; for me it is an opportunity to honor his name. ” Simon Kjaer, defender of the Danish national team and AC Milan, does not hide the emotion for the award of the ‘Hall of Fame of Italian Football’ dedicated to Davide Astori that was awarded to him in recent weeks for the courage and promptness shown in the occasion of the cardiac arrest that hit Christian Eriksen in the opening match of the European Championship, last June 12 in Copenhagen. The ceremony will be held in Florence on May 23, in Palazzo Vecchio.

“In Serie A I feel at home – says Kjaer – I enjoyed playing in ‘La Liga’ with Sevilla, but when I had the chance to return to Italy I didn’t think twice. And now, I say it with the heart, I’m very happy to be at Milan. Sometimes dreams come true: I remember that many years ago, when I was still playing in Palermo, I told my agent that I would have loved to do it in Milan. And now here I am. ” (HANDLE).
