(ANSA) – LONDON, APRIL 14 – The British team of the men’s 4x100m relay returned the silver medals of the Tokyo Olympics competition, which were removed due to Chijindu Ujah’s positive doping. This was announced by the Olympic Committee of Great Britain (Boa).

The test to which Ujah was subjected after the competition showed the presence of two prohibited substances, ostarine and S-23, commonly used to ‘build’ muscles. On the Tokyo track the British quartet finished second behind Italy’s gold medal by a hundredth of a second.

The CEO of the British Olympic Committee underlined that “it is with real sadness that we had to ask for the return of medals, certificates and pins, especially for the three athletes who were punished through no fault of their own”. However, this is the TAS verdict and we must respect it, as we have been clear that it must happen to other nations whose athletes have broken the doping rules. “The other members of the British relay were Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake, Zharnel Hughes and Richard Kilty.
