‘Thank You Marcelo’, Leeds fans buy page for Bielsa

Pastor of the Ukrainian community in Perugia:

(ANSA) – BUENOS AIRES, APRIL 16 – Marcelo Bielsa was sacked from Leeds in February, but has remained in the hearts of the fans of the team that ‘El Loco’ brought back to the Premier League, after years of anonymity in the Championship. So now to thank him for what he did for them, a group of Leeds supporters bought an advertising page for ‘La Capital’, the main newspaper in Rosario, the city of which Bielsa is from, to have us print a long message to the former coach of their team, containing feelings that go beyond football.

So, under a flashy black ‘Thank You Marcelo’ writing, these people write like this: “we stopped under the sun of August 2018, mesmerized by a kick we didn’t think was possible, and we tried something again. You remembered that football can be beautiful and that a team can be stronger than the sum of its individualities. And you gave us so much more than football. You guided us through a pandemic and brought us together when we were all missing. You showed us that integrity and decency matter, for better or for worse. You accepted our fears and turned our despair into hope, our footballers into heroes. You gave us back our pride, you gave us joy and created precious memories that will last a lifetime. It was good, Marcelo, and always will be. ” (HANDLE).
