(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 19 – From Pep Guardiola to Harry Kane, from Ashleigh Barty to Canelo Alvarez, from Michael Phelps to Oscar De La Hoya. From June 30 to July 1, some sporting champions, led by golf icons such as South African Ernie Els and American Fred Couples, will compete on the greens of the Liberty National Golf Club, in New Jersey. According to Sportsmail, the Icons Series will be staged in the US, a tournament – match play format – with teams of 14 players each.
Among these is the Rest of the World team, led by Els, who will be able to count on the support of Guardiola, Barty and Alvarez. With Couples, in the US team, there will be Phelps, De La Hoya but also Michael Strahan and Ben Roethlisberger, former American football players.
“These athletes are used to having the pressure on them, so I’m sure they will be up to the challenge. The games will be competitive and played in the right spirit,” Ernie Els told Sportsmail. (HANDLE).
