(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 21 – Virtual football is again the protagonist in Lega Pro. Three years ago, Serie C believed in eSports: on May 25, 2019, in fact, the “eSuper Cup Serie C” was played in Pordenone. , a triangular in which professional ePlayers representing the three teams involved in the Supercoppa di Lega – Pordenone, Virtus Entella and Juve Stabia – faced each other in a triangular with joypad strokes (Juve Stabia won).

Almost 3 years later, thanks to the eSports partnership between LegaPro and WeArena Entertainment SpA, a leading company in digital entertainment and the largest network of digital entertainment parks in Europe – the project of a virtual football championship becomes reality: many clubs from C who joined by actively participating in the cultural transformation path activated by WeArena.

This championship is a source of great pride for the president of the Lega Pro Francesco Ghirelli: “I have always believed in the importance of electronic sports, because it is an expanding phenomenon that reaches young people directly. The new eSerieC will be played on EA SPORTS FIFA 22 licensed by Electronic Arts. A license also obtained thanks to the validity of the format proposed by WeArena. The selections of the eSport teams for the clubs that have joined the project are about to end: the two owners of each team will compete in the eSerie C championship which will have the structure of the winner and loser bracket.

The championship will be presented on May 3 with a live event on the official WeArena channels where the draw will be made for the composition of the 3 groups into which the eSport teams representing the Lega Pro clubs will be divided: A, B and C. The competition will begin on 7 May, immediately after some friendly matches to be held on 4 May. The group stage will end on May 31 to make room for the last stages to be held – live – inside the WeArena Ferrara.
