‘Race for the Cure’ is back: Gualtieri “proud to be held in Rome”

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 22 – The Race for The Cure is back, the largest event organized by Komen Italia for the fight against breast cancer in our country, and it does so in the setting of the Circus Maximus in Rome from 5 to 8 May 2022. “I am convinced that the race will return to the great pre-covid numbers, we are proud that it is held in Rome, which is at the forefront of the fight against cancer”, said the Capitoline Mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, at the presentation of the event at the Salone d ‘Honor of Coni.

“We want to put at the center of the city and the country, the treatment, the prevention, the fight against breast cancer in women, sport and nutrition because with Covid, unfortunately, there has been a slowdown in screening – continued the Mayor -.

The city unites and is happy. It will be a great moment of sport and participation for a message that brings us all together “.

A twenty-third edition “which has something incredible and impressive” then said the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò. “I believe that our world, that of sport, is the most incisive vehicle for promotion. We are the person who can help and prevent most of all,” added the head of Italian sport. In the Health Village, active from Thursday 5 to Saturday 7 from 10 to 20, specialist consultations and diagnostic tests will be offered free of charge (mainly to women selected by social voluntary associations), in collaboration with the Gemelli University Hospital IRCCS.

Meanwhile, from 2000 to today, Komen Italia has invested more than 21 million euros in over 1000 projects for women’s health. Thanks to the funds raised with the Race for the Cure 2022, Komen will return to disburse funds for associations involved in the fight against breast cancer operating in Italy, establish study awards and increase the stages of the Prevention Caravan aimed at women living in condition of social fragility.
