Tennis: Malagò “Russian exclusion? Victims of athletes, but clear Cio”

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 22 – “I am part of a world that is the IOC, the organization on which the world sports system depends. The indication of the IOC towards Russian and Belarusian athletes is very clear. Then there are organizations that can decide, as private, to accept this indication or not. Clearly the athletes are victims of this situation, I am obviously talking about those who have not come out with declarations in favor of war “. This was stated by the president of Coni, Giovanni Malagò, on the sidelines of the press conference to present the Race for the Cure at the Hall of Honor of the Olympic Committee, speaking of the exclusion of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions. The head of Italian sport then recalled the choice made during the Paralympics in Beijing where “the international organization had decided to bypass the invitation because the Paralympic athletes were already there, but it could not be done otherwise because the others refused to to race”.
