(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 26 – Roger Federer, who has not played in competitions since Wimbledon 2021, “confirmed his participation” in the Basel tournament at the end of October: the organizers announced it in a press release today.
“Roger Federer will be seeded” in the tournament organized in his hometown from 24 to 30 October, the note reads.
“After the Laver Cup in London (23-25 ;; September), Federer added Basel to his schedule and confirmed his participation in the tournament.”
“I can’t wait to go back to play at home”, commented on social networks the Swiss who will turn 41 in August and who hasn’t played a game since last July 7, when he clearly lost to Robert Hurkacz in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon. Since then he has undergone several knee surgeries, sliding down the rankings to the current No. 41 of the ranking. (HANDLE).
