(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 29 – Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Sonego and Fabio Fognini are the three blues at the start of the main draw Masters 1000 in Madrid starting on Monday, as a prologue to the Internazionali d’Italia.
They could be joined by Lorenzo Musetti, who will try to overcome the qualifications from tomorrow.
The draw reserved for Sinner in the first round the American Tommy Paul, n.34 Atp, whom he has never met, and therefore one between the Australian Alex Del Minaur and the Spaniard Pedro Martinez. Sonego will have to contend with the British Jack Draper and then eventually with the Russian Andrey Rublev, admitted directly to the second round. Finally, Fognini will face the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili and the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in perspective.
14 of the top 16 players in the world rankings will be on the pitch in Madrid. Only the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who is recovering after the operation on his back, and the blue Matteo Berrettini, in rehabilitation after surgery on his right hand, will be missing. Novak Djokovic, the favorite, and the top eight seeded players will enter the race directly in the second round. The first round match between the British Andy Murray, winner of the tournament in 2008 and 2015, and the Austrian Dominic Thiem, competing with the protected ranking, is interesting. (HANDLE).
