(ANSA) – WASHINGTON, APRIL 30 – Hope Solo, 40, a symbolic player and goalkeeper for the US national team who has dominated the women’s football scene for years, has decided to undergo an alcohol detox treatment. This is after she was arrested on March 31 in North Carolina for driving under the influence of her two-year-old twin children in her car. According to the police, the former footballer had also resisted at the time of the arrest.
“I will voluntarily undergo an alcohol detoxification program – wrote Solo on Twitter – and I will win this challenge. Right now all my energy is focused on my health and on taking care of myself and my family” .
Hope Solo won two Olympic golds with the US, at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games (when her statements about sex in the athletes ‘village caused much discussion) and a world title, in 2015. Next year she will be introduced in the’ Hall. of Fame ‘of US football. (HANDLE).
