(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 06 – The Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) and the Istituto per il Credito Sportivo (ICS) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish collaboration procedures aimed at supporting the further development of the Italian Paralympic movement and the diffusion of sporting practice also in favor of Paralympic athletes.

The four-year agreement, signed at the CIP headquarters by presidents Luca Pancalli and Andrea Abodi – provides for a more structured use of products and services provided by ICS to support the promotion of start-up to sport and the practice of competitive sports and amateurs dedicated to people with disabilities, also through the improvement of sports venues, their accessibility, functionality and humanity. Among the qualifying points of the Protocol we note the collaboration in the collection of data and information, together with the elaboration of analyzes and studies, aimed at a more structured, objective and exhaustive representation of the sports system in all its articulations, with the aim of contributing , in close liaison with the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, to the elaboration of norms, programs and measures in favor of the development of sporting practice and to the planning of the relative interventions.

“The protocol – underlines the Undersecretary with responsibility for Sport Valentina Vezzali – is proof that the culture of sport must be encouraged if we want to build an inclusive society without barriers and this objective cannot be separated from interventions on sports facilities”.

“The primary objective for our Institute is to contribute with this Protocol to the policies of the Paralympic Committee – said president Abodi – to give further support to the three million disabled people who practice it at various levels, with the aim of increasing further this number “.
