(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 07 – Marcell Jacobs absent, due to the gastrointestinal problems accused yesterday, Filippo Tortu closed in seventh place the test of the 100 meters at the Kip Keino Classic, stage of the World Continental Tour, in Nairobi, won by Kenyan Ferdinand Omanyala with the best time of the season (9 ” 85), ahead of the Americans Fred Kerley (9 ” 92) and Isiah Young (10 ” 13).
At about 1800 meters of altitude of the Kasarani stadium there were two starts in the sprint test. In the first, the home favorite Omanyala moved early but avoided disqualification, while Tortu did not notice the second shot and ran for 30-40 meters, wasting energy that would have been fundamental. In the second start, in fact, the Olympic champion of the 4×100 did not make a good start and completed the test penultimate with 10”24.
