(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 16 – “I was very perplexed, I did not understand, both on the turnout and on the reference to public money”. The president of the ACI, Angelo Sticchi Damiani, thus replies to the n.1 of the Federtennis Binaghi who, praising the record numbers of the International Tennis Championships this year, also specified that they, unlike the Italian Formula 1 GP 1 in Monza, whose numbers were exceeded by the event in Rome, however, do not have any money deriving from public funds. “I don’t understand – added Sticchi Damiani – Monza 2019 is archeology. We had two bad years with Covid, while this year, 2022, it is repaying us for the sacrifices made. All the racetracks are sold out, it is not a homogeneous comparison the one made by Binaghi with whom I have been friends for many years and I have not argued. With the sale of Monza 2022 we have already far exceeded 2019 which does not remain a term of comparison. The comparison must be made with Monza 2022. It leaves me even more the reference to public money is perplexed: it is well known that the Aci does not receive contributions from the state. These are sacrifices that have weighed on our budget: we have had an important contribution from the Lombardy Region in all this, determined not in terms of money but in political terms. For this I am grateful first to Maroni and then to Fon tana, the contribution covers 15% of the costs “.
