A bitter victory for Inter with Sampdoria

A miracle was needed or almost, but this time it didn’t happen. At San Siro, Inter removed the Scudetto from their shirt, in a hot afternoon when the Nerazzurri did their duty by beating Sampdoria 3-0 with goals from Perisic and Correa (brace) for a victory that, in the end , turns out to be decidedly bitter. The result of Reggio Emilia, with AC Milan winning from the first minutes, did not extinguish the enthusiasm of Lautaro and his teammates, who still managed to knock out Sampdoria but after the triumph of last season and considering the Rossoneri success with Sassuolo they must so abdicate in favor of the cousins.

Obviously, today is not the day on which the Nerazzurri threw away the Scudetto goal: already complicated by the farewells of Conte, Lukaku, Hakimi and Eriksen last summer, Simone Inzaghi’s men’s season has taken a negative turn with a tragic winter between January and February, but above all, after having put the standings back on their feet, with the very heavy defeat against Bologna in the recovery of the match not played in January for the Covid cases in the rossoblu. A knockout which was affected by Radu’s sensational error and which forced Inter to chase Milan in the last few days, but faced an opponent who did not do anything wrong.

The last 90 minutes at San Siro against the Dorians began with enthusiasm and general hope, with the charge of over 70 thousand spectators, among whom even more than someone showed up with the Sassuolo shirt. The game, however, gradually lost value, considering the news coming from Reggio Emilia, despite Inter’s desire to win anyway. After a troubled first half, the Nerazzurri were unleashed in the second half, when it was Perisic (who later got out on a stretcher with an ovation from San Siro) who broke the deadlock, before Correa’s brace. A victory full of regrets for what could have been but it was not for Lautaro and colleagues.

Inter’s season thus ends with the disappointment of seeing the Scudetto unravel from their chest by the Rossoneri rivals, despite the two cups (Coppa Italia and Supercoppa) raised by Inzaghi’s men. And the Nerazzurri will start again from the Emilian coach, with a renewal that should arrive in the next few weeks. “I will meet the club, we will have an important meeting for next season”, said the coach on the eve of the match against Sampdoria.

A future that will, necessarily, also pass from the market: the first objective is the renewal of Perisic (“we are confident because we both would like to continue”, the words of Marotta to DAZN), then we will think about reinforcements, which could start from another zero parameter luxury like Paulo Dybala. The rest will pass not only from the farewells of players outside the project such as Vidal and Sanchez, but probably also from some valuable sales, with Bastoni who would be the main suspect to leave Milan: “Sale of a big player? Like all teams, you have to give an eye to the balance sheet in terms of sustainability but we must also look at competitiveness “, added the CEO before the match against Sampdoria.
