The dream “to do well” and maybe give “a great champion” to his Monza after having hit a promotion that is history: Silvio Berlusconi smiles proudly arriving at the U-Power Stadium for the red and white party amidst the choirs and applause of the fans. “Silvio take us to Europe”, the request of the public which is perhaps a dream, almost impossible. But for the Galliani-Berlusconi couple, nothing is really impossible. In four years they have brought Monza from Serie C to Serie A and now they are enjoying the party with the Brianza fans, together with Fininvest CEO Danilo Pellegrino. First the bus discovered through the streets of the city, among choirs, flags and smoke bombs and a long procession. Then the award ceremony in the stadium, with the crowded stands and the children of the youth sector waiting for the players. There is also Mario Balotelli, who wore the Monza shirt, without being able to become the leader of the ride to Serie A but still close to Galliani and Berlusconi.
“What is happening here in Monza is both exciting and remarkable – says Berlusconi – because I saw the bus on the internet and there was a very large citizenry who greeted and applauded. My dream is to see Monza do well in Serie A. We consider that we have a good team that can also do well as it is. If this happens to us and we can take some great champion who can bring to the team the sign of his experience and also of his ability to control and command others, we will do it. I’d love that”. The ambition not to be a passing team, to make a good impression and become a consolidated reality even in the top flight.
Because even the arrival in Serie A has been planned since the purchase of the club. “Yes, we’ve been thinking about it since last year and I, frankly – admits Berlusconi – was very disappointed last year, because we didn’t get there by a goal”. However, Monza has not failed twice and now celebrates its feat with a party in style. “After Napoleon, Silvio the crown awaits you”, the banner displayed by the Curva.
Open applause for everyone, especially for Giovanni Stroppa. “Thanks to these extraordinary players, thanks to the fans because without you we could not bring home the result and thanks to the extraordinary management”, the words of the coach from the stage. After captain Mario Sampirisi raised the playoff cup to the sky, delivered by the president of Lega B Mauro Balata, under a shower of confetti. Then throughout the stadium echo the notes of Gianluca Grignani’s “Destination Paradise”, which is the slogan that accompanied Monza in the promotion: ‘Monza paradise city’, as they write from the Curva.
