(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 01 – Alan Pardew left the technical guide of CSKA Sofia with immediate effect due to the racist behavior of some of the club’s fans. The 60-year-old English manager – as reported by the BBC – was forced to make this decision due to the actions of a “small group of organized supporters” during a CSKA league match at home against Botev Plovdiv on 19 May.
Four of CSKA’s black players were reportedly victims of racist abuse including throwing bananas at them. “Unfortunately my time here is over – reads a statement on the club’s website – The events before and after the game with Botev were not acceptable to me, my assistant Alex Dyer or our players. The reason for which no one gave an interview after the game was that we were all very outraged by the situation that had worsened. “
The former Newcastle and West Ham manager, who has managed seven English clubs, has chosen to leave after numerous talks with the Bulgarian club’s executives over the past 10 days. (HANDLE).
