(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 02 – Spain and Portugal drew 1-1 in Seville in a match on the first day of Nations League A group 2, while the Czech Republic won 2-1 over Switzerland, taking the lead of the classification. The third consecutive tie between the two Iberian national teams was signed by Juventus player Alvaro Morata, scoring in the 25th minute, and by Braga striker Ricardo Horta, eight minutes from the final whistle.

Cristiano Ronaldo entered only in the last half hour, without shining, but in any case with his presence the team of Fernando Santos managed to rebalance the result, disappointing the expectations of the little more than 40 thousand spectators present at the Benito Villamarin stadium, who it can contain 60 thousand.

Precisely the scarce presence of the public, in a challenge which is very felt in the peninsula, gives a measure of the value of this end-of-season tournament, even in a year leading up to the World Cup.

One of the most enterprising in the formation fielded by Luis Enrique, immediately aggressive, the 17-year-old Barcelona attacking midfielder Gavi, who also put a hand in the action of Alvaro Morata’s goal. However, Portugal woke up thanks mainly to Rafael Leao and Andre Silva. In the second period the Lusitanians were almost dominant, even if they only scored in the final. A small tribute to the Czechs who, thanks to Kuchta’s goal in the first half and Sow’s own goal in the second half, got the better of the Swiss led by Murat Yakin. Spain will arrive in Prague on Sunday, while Portugal will host Switzerland in Lisbon. (HANDLE).
