Boxing: Board of EBU elected, there are no Italians

(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 04 – The European Boxing Union (Ebu) met in Riga and elected the Swiss Peter Stucki, sole candidate, as its new president.

The Board of Directors will be composed of Dominique Nato (France, 206 votes), Charles Giles (Great Britain, 196), Domingo Matas Prados (Spain, 174), Jekaterina Krilova (Latvia, 172), Jesper Jensen (Denmark, 172), Beate Poeske (Germany, 168), Marco Giuliani (Belgium, 149), Perticare Augustin (Finland, 129), Jack Schmidli (Switzerland), Alina Shaternikova (Ukraine, 112). There will therefore be no representatives of Italy.

“After years of difficulty, also characterized by the indefinite postponement of European championship challenges (our boxer Ceglia knows something) – comments the president of the FPI, Flavio D’Ambrosi -, I hope that something will change in the promotion policies and development of European boxing. There is no doubt that the professional European boxing movement would require a real pole of coordination between the various national federations. In my opinion, EBU should perform this function with more vivacity and not be limited to a simple ‘notarial’ activity in the management of continental securities “. According to the Federboxe number one, “otherwise there is a risk, even in the total absence of ideas and projects, that winning an Ebu title will be considered, more and more, not strictly necessary as a springboard for a world title of the most important acronyms, and rather that the continental title is replaced by the various international titles of the same acronyms “.
