(ANSA) – MILAN, 08 JUN – News for Serie A: in case of equal points between two teams in the fight for the championship or for salvation, there will be a play-off. This was decided by the League Council, held before yesterday’s club meeting. The play-off will be carried out only in the event that the teams play the title or stay in Serie A: in the event of two clubs arriving on equal points in the fight for the European cups, the old rules remain in force.
The rules will now have to pass by the FIGC Council, called upon to ratify the novelty desired by the Serie A League.
Furthermore, the League Council has approved the modification of the double goal away rule for the Italian Cup: as in Uefa competitions, from next season the rule will no longer be valid and in this case it will not be necessary to pass through the Federal Council, given that the Coppa Italia is organized by the Lega Serie A.
