Ifab, the rule on 5 substitutions per game is final

(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 13 – The rule that allows five substitutions per game in the most important football tournaments becomes a definitive rule. This was decided by the International Football Association Board (Ifab), the body that sets the rules of football, during its 136th annual general meeting, which was held in Doha, Qatar.

L’Ifab has ratified the changes and clarifications to the 2022/23 Rules of the Game: they will come into force from next July 1st. The possibility of the five changes was introduced in May 2020, during the pandemic, and extended several times. The rule remains in force that changes can be made during a maximum of three game stoppages, in addition to the interval.

Among the other topics on the agenda, also the evaluations on the extension to more competitions of the use of the semi-automatic detection of the offside. (HANDLE).
