(ANSA-AFP) – TOKYO, JUN 14 – Boxer Floyd Mayweather will challenge Japanese mixed martial arts star Mikuru Asakura in September. This was announced by the MMA Rizin organization at a press conference in Tokyo. “The two athletes will duel in Japan in September, the date and rules of the match will be specified by the end of the month”, assured Nobuyuki Sakakibara, president of Rizin, who said he was very “proud to see this challenge”. “I am primarily an MMA fighter, and I will use this specialty to win this bout, I am impatient,” said Mikuru Asakura, 29, the Japanese who took 16 victories in professional MMA fights. “I am the best, I have seen all the stars and I have broken all the records,” replied the American Floyd Mayweather, known as ‘Money’, before adding that Mikuru Asakura is “an opponent like any other”.
