Paul Drux gives the foxes victory

With a lot of luck, the Füchse Berlin prevented their first defeat of the season and are in the round of 16 of the DHB Cup. On Wednesday evening, the Berlin team won 29:28 (17:14) thanks to a late goal from captain Paul Drux at HSV Hamburg. For the foxes it was the eighth victory in the eighth competitive game. The best Berlin thrower was Hans Lindberg with seven goals.

Coach Jaron Siewert had to do without the injured playmaker Marian Michalczik. The game started very evenly, both teams tried to pick up the pace. After 13 minutes the foxes were able to settle easily for the first time (9: 6). But then they failed too often to national goalkeeper Johannes Bitter, and HSV countered with a 4-0 run.

In the 18 minute a seven-meter keeper Dejn Milosavljev hit in the face. The Hamburg Niklas Weller saw the red card, Fredrik Genz came into the Berliner Tor. And the keeper then showed six good saves. And since the hosts also made some mistakes, the Füchse were able to defeat three goals again before the break.

But after the break, the foxes found no access on the defensive again. Azat Valiullin in particular scored almost at will. In addition, the Berliners failed in the attack more and more often due to bitter. Ten minutes before the end they were behind with three goals (23:26). But the foxes, again with Milosavljev in the gate, fought their way forward. The decision was made 14 seconds before the end when Drux scored to win. Milosavljev then held the last throw. (dpa)
