(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 19 – Charles Leclerc has minimized the loss of points in Canada. Starting 19th after the penalty for the Power Unit change to his Ferrari, the Monegasque finished in 5th place after a race full of overtaking and not at all simple.
“In the end it was fun, at first it was frustrating. I stayed in the DRS train, halfway through the race I had Ocon who had fresh tires – Leclerc tells Sky – and I was struggling with traction. There was also a problem in the pit- Stop which cost a lot, I got back into traffic. Considering what happened, fifth place is the best possible result. But I can’t be happy with the 5th place. I managed to stay calm, it was a race of patience. In part it has paid. In a race where I started 19th I could not have hoped for better. We start again at Silverstone, where we will return to aim for victory. The World Championship is still there, there are 49 points: two wins and it’s done. Joking aside, we have to focus on ourselves . If we push hard we have the potential to get back in front. I can’t judge what happens at Red Bull, but everyone has reliability problems.
