The path of the new Italy coach, Gianmarco Pozzecco, at the helm of the national basketball team, started today. The coach, together with the new technical staff, directed the first training session for Azzurro at the Allianz Dome in Trieste.
“The emotion leaves room for determination and the desire to build a path that takes us as far as possible.
The goal – said Pozzecco – is to train hard to be ready to face European champion Slovenia and the Netherlands for qualification for the 2023 World Cup.
I am happy and proud to start my blue journey from Trieste, a city in my heart “.
Matteo Spanish was authorized not to take part in the meeting due to the continuation of his commitments in the United States.
Achille Polonara will join his team mates in Trieste from next Wednesday. Training will continue until Friday 24 June, the eve of the friendly match against Slovenia, the first match of the new management. At the end, the coach will announce the list of players called up for the Brescia rally (28 June / 1 July) and for the trip to Almere, where the Azzurri will face Holland on 4 July.
