Boxing: former Italian superlight champion Consoled died

(ANSA) – ANCONA, 28 JUN – Massimo Consolati, former Italian boxing champion in the super light category, has died.

He died at the age of 85 in his city, Ancona, after a long illness. He had started his career at the age of 23 and had become the Italian champion of super light weights, when in 1966 in Senigallia he managed to beat for him technical Ko in the tenth round the future world champion Bruno Arcari. A native of the San Pietro district of Ancona, from 1960 to 1973 he fought as a professional, playing 87 matches and winning 50; he fought with the strongest champions of his time: Carrasco, Arcari, Lopopolo, Velasquez, Armestead Torres. Serious and scrupulous during the preparation, he was capable of boxing with technique and extreme power. The funeral will be held tomorrow June 29 at the Church of the Pozzetto in Tavernelle di Ancona.
