Accident on the Mugello track, dead motorcyclist

(ANSA) – SCARPERIA (FLORENCE), 30 JUN – Clash on the track at the Mugello circuit, a 35-year-old motorcyclist residing in Lombardy has died. The accident around 11 am during free practice in view of the Italian motorcycle cup races scheduled for this weekend: two riders involved. Their conditions immediately appeared serious, the staff of the medical center of the Tuscan circuit, who intervened promptly to help them, managed to stabilize their conditions, before being transported to the nearby Careggi hospital, the most serious with the air ambulance. Unfortunately the latter, according to the Autodrome, which had suffered the greatest injuries, died after a few hours. A 39-year-old was seriously injured: he suffered a polytrauma and is now hospitalized in Careggi hospital on a confidential prognosis.

On the dynamics of the accident, from what was reconstructed at the time, both drivers were proceeding on a straight stretch when one of the two would have slowed down to enter the pits after being hit by the other. The 35-year-old was then transported by helicopter rescue to Careggi where he subsequently died, the other injured was transferred by ambulance first to the Borgo San Lorenzo hospital and then to the Florentine polyclinic.
