Volleyball, World Cup: the new formula and calendar have been launched

The International Volleyball Federation has formalized the new formula and the calendar of the 20th edition of the World Championships scheduled in Poland and Slovenia from 26 August to 11 September, after the well-known war events following which Russia was ousted both from the organization and from participation in the world championship. The 24 teams, divided into 6 pools of 4 each, will face each other with the Round Robin formula. The top two in each group, and the four best thirds, will give life to the knockout stage.
The pool phase is scheduled from 26 to 31 August in two cities: Katowice (Poland) and Ljubljana (Slovenia).
The round of 16 will be played from 3 to 6 September, in Gliwice (Poland) and Ljubljana (Slovenia); the quarters in the same venues on 7 and 8 September. Semifinals and finals will be staged in Katowice (Poland) on 10 and 11 September. The men’s national team, as per the initial draw, will be involved in Pool E against Canada, Turkey and China. The grouping of the Azzurri will be played in Ljubljana.
This is the schedule of the Azzurri: 27 August (9.15 pm), Italy-Canada; 29 August (9.15 pm), Italy-Turkey; 31 August (9.15 pm), Italy-China.
