(ANSA) – GENOA, 09 JUL – Felipe Caicedo, the Ecuadorian striker who Genoa had withdrawn from Lazio last year, is no longer a Genoa player. To sanction the farewell is the Arbitration Board which rejected the player’s appeal.
In fact, Caicedo had signed an annual contract with an option for another two successive seasons, but he himself should have triggered the option. The player had thus tried to sue the rossoblù club asking for recognition of the validity of the right of option and compensation against him.
Genoa relied on the lawyer Mattia Grassani of the Bologna Court who instead demonstrated that the player had not correctly exercised the option right and consequently that the contract had not been renewed for the two-year period 2022/2024.
The Arbitration Board rejected both of the striker’s requests recognizing the full correctness of Genoa.
