Sailing: Europeans; Tita-Banti gold in the Nacra 17 class

(ANSA) – AARHUS, 10 JUL – Sixth and final day at the European Championships in Denmark of the Male and Female Skiff and Catamaran Foiling Olympic disciplines. A day of medals, after yesterday’s sharp slowdown in the program, with almost all the tests canceled due to too much wind.

In the Azzurri team there is an exultation for the Nacra 17, where, as already at the Tokyo Olympics, Ruggero Tita and Caterina Banti have no rivals and win gold. They do it in advance of the ‘medal race’ because in the first of the two fleet tests today before the ‘Medal’ they still win a first place of the day and therefore the mathematical victory in the European Championship.

The blue duo graduated as 2022 European champions with a score that sees a net of 21 points against the 86 of the second – the New Zealanders who participated in the open trophy – and the 93 of the Finns first Europeans after the Azzurri, and therefore silver. The bronze is from another Italian couple, the one made up of Gigi Ugolini and Maria Giubilei, who belong to the Air Force but work, therefore compete, at sea.

Another medal for Italy comes from the 49er Female Skiff: FX, with the Germani-Bertuzzi crew taking the European bronze (fifth in the Open trophy). The blue girls finally closed with an excellent performance (second place) in the Medal Race, in control of the possible return of their pursuers from Spain. (HANDLE).
