(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 13 – Marcell Jacobs has dissolved the reserve: the two Olympic champion from Tokyo will be at the start in the 100 meters of the Athletics World Championships in Eugene (Oregon), in the heat scheduled on the night between Friday and Saturday (away at 3:50 am Italian, 6:50 pm US).
The decision, announced Fidal, came after an interview between the blue and his coach, Paolo Camossi, then triangulated with the technical direction of the national team, also in light of the comforting signals arrived from the work done in Beaverton, not far from Portland, where Jacobs completed the pre-World adaptation period.
In some ways, it is as if Jacobs’ outdoor season started right from Eugene, after the winter one had seen him triumph at the World Championships in Belgrade: last March, the blue had imposed himself in the 60 meters, beating the American specialists (this time led by Coleman, returning after the disqualification) and signing the European record (6 “41). Then the difficulties of the spring, the injury, the canceled appointments, the return to the Assoluti di Rieti, and the run-up to the useful form to take sides at the start of the world championship.
