Football: Figc report, with Covid ‘lost’ half a billion from tickets

(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 13 – The impact of Covid-19 on Italian football was evident in particular with regard to stadium entrance revenues, almost zero in 2020-2021 compared to the 341 million euros of 2018-2019. This is what emerges from the 12th edition of the ReportCalcio, the document developed by the FIGC Study Center in collaboration with Arel (Research and Legislation Agency) and PwC Italia (PricewaterhouseCoopers).

Between 2018-2019 and 2020-2021, the total number of spectators present in Italian stadiums for high-level competitions (professional football and national teams) went from 16.1 million to just 148,248, while potential spectators ‘lost’ in professional football alone in the 2 seasons with Covid-19 impact (2019-20 and 2020-21) they amounted to 23.1 million, with an impact in terms of potential revenues from unrealized ticketing equal to 513.3 million euros.
