(ANSA) – EUGENE, JULY 16 – The Chinese Wang Jianan wins gold in the long jump at the World Athletics Championships underway in Eugene, Oregon, placing a jump of 8.36 meters, an unbeatable result. Mocked the Greek super-favorite Miltiadis Tentoglou, already winner of the Olympic title, the indoor world title and the European one.
Up to the sixth round the Chinese – who had only won a bronze when he was very young in Beijing 2015 – was stationed on a “normal” 8.03. But with the last jump he managed to overthrow Tentoglou (8.32 meters) from the summit by four centimeters, and the response of the Greek (who stopped at 8.20 meters) was not enough to regain the lead.
Bronze went to a decathlete, the Swiss Simon Ehammer, particularly at ease with the long: 8.16 meters. (HANDLE).
