Matthews wins the 14th stage, the 15th promised to the adventurers

During the 14th stage, the Australian Michael Matthews won in Mende. Thibaut Pinot comes third. Behind the breakaway, Pogačar fought with the yellow jersey, Vinegaard, who expects new attacks from the Slovenian.

During the 14th stage of the Tour de France, the Australian Michael Matthews came first. The Australian took over at the top of the Laurent Jalabert climb in Mende. Frenchman Thibaut Pinot finished third. Behind the breakaway, Tadej Pogačar attacked the yellow jersey but failed to win it. Jonas Vingegaard still expects other attempts.

“I expect him to attack me every day, maybe even on the rest day. You never know,” joked the Dane. “You know, I would do the same if I was in his situation. I will also use every opportunity I have. That’s what he does and I’m already happy to be able to follow him.” For now, Vingegaard is still in yellow.

This Sunday, head for the 15th stage between Rodez and Carcassonne. A stage promised to adventurers like Alexis Gougeard. “It’s a great stage. We spotted it with the team, we did the reconnaissance. It’s something that I like. It’s hard without being too hard, it’s exhausting. So it can be something good if I’m in front.” Perhaps a first French victory on the Tour this year.

For the moment, on the French side, Romain Bardet is fourth in the general classification, David Gaudu is eighth.
