Paralympic: CIP increases Deaflympics medal prizes

(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 18 – The national council of the Italian Paralympic Committee today approved the increase in the prizes for the medals won on the occasion of the Deaflympics, the Olympics for deaf people. For gold it goes from 12,000 to 50,000 euros, for silver from 6,000 to 25,000 euros and for bronze from 3,000 to 15,000 euros.

The news was enthusiastically welcomed by the President of the Italian Deaf Sports Federation, Guido Zanecchia, who speaks of “a great recognition”. “This is proof of how much the CIP cares for the FSSI and above all for deaf athletes. We hope that this synergy and the welcome of the sports movement of the deaf in the great Paralympic family will be increasingly felt”.

CIP number one Luca Pancalli affirms that with this resolution “the Paralympic movement takes an important step forward, giving due recognition to a sporting reality that in recent years has given us great satisfaction and which has proven to represent international excellence. “. Even if deaf athletes and athletes do not take part in the Paralympics, Pancalli adds “in this way we want to make everyone feel part of our sporting family”. (HANDLE).
