(ANSA) – MONTERREY, 19 JUL – The United States women’s national football team qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics by beating Canada 1-0, reigning Olympic champion, in the final of the Concacaf Cup, won for the third consecutive time . The goal was scored, on a penalty, by Alex Morgan in the 78th minute, the 118th of the attacker with the national team jersey.
The US has thus taken revenge after the defeat suffered by Canada in the semifinals of last year’s Olympics in Japan.
In addition to the ticket for the 2024 Games, the competition, which pitted eight teams from North America, also assigned seats for the next World Cup, which will take place in 2023 in Australia and New Zealand: reaching the semifinals, USA, Canada, Jamaica and Costa Rica have achieved qualification.
