(ANSA) – ROME, 20 JUL – After the tournaments organized in combination with the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour makes a stop in England for the Cazoo Classic. From 21 to 24 July in Southport, on the Hillside Golf Club course, there will be two blues in the race: Edoardo Molinari and Lorenzo Gagli. Rest period for the other Italians – from Guido Migliozzi to Francesco Molinari, fresh from 15th place at The Open, from Francesco Laporta to Nino Bertasio – but also for many big names in the top continental circuit. In an event, which was held for the first time in 1988 when Howard Clark won at home and in the then English Open.
No Italian success in the competition, once again the protagonist in 2021 (when the Scotsman Calum Hill won) after 19 years of hiatus. In 1993, it was Costantino Rocca who came close to finishing second behind only the Welshman Ian Woosnam, champion of The Masters in 1991.
The event is giving away € 1,750,000 and precedes the Hero Open (28-31 July in Scotland). (HANDLE).
