(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 20 – The blue teams of men’s saber and women’s sword qualified for the quarter-finals at the World Fencing Championships in Cairo and will return to the platform tomorrow for the assault on the world championship podium.
Luca Curatoli, Luigi Samele, Pietro Torre and Michele Gallo in the round of 32 made their debut by beating Iran 45-24, repeating themselves in the 16 draw thanks to the victory over Hong Kong with a score of 45-23.
For captain Samele and his teammates, tomorrow’s opponent will be Egypt as the host.
Rossella Fiamingo, bronze in the individual test, together with Mara Navarria, Alberta Santuccio and Federica Isola reached the quarterfinals by beating first Uzbekistan 45-22 and then Romania for 45-28. their next opponent will be Switzerland.
