(ANSA) – EUGENE, 21 JUL – At the World Athletics Championships in Eugene the Italian record of 400 women’s hurdles falls after nine years. Thanks to Ayomide Folorunso who runs 54.34 in the semifinals and improves by two tenths the 54.54 of Yadisleidy Pedroso achieved in Shanghai in 2013. But it is not enough to access the world final, for which, on balance, Folorunso would have needed a prohibitive 53.72 . It was therefore clear from the start of the round that getting into the final was a very, very complicated matter. But the Emilian consoles himself with the most awaited gift, that is the Italian primacy, touched on several times during this year and now centered at Hayward Field.
Folorunso is fifth in his semifinal in 54.34, a time less than twenty cents compared to what Yadisleidy Pedroso scored in Shanghai, in the Diamond League stage, on May 18, 2013, nine years ago.
