(ANSA) – ROME, JUL 23 – The president of the Italian fencing Federation, Paolo Azzi, received from the hands of the president of the FIE, Emmanuel Katsiadakis, the flag of the International Federation, symbol of the official passing of the baton for the organization of the World 2023 which will be held in Italy, in Milan. With the official ceremony held in Cairo, the countdown to the championship has begun, scheduled from 22 to 30 July 2023.
Representing Milan 2023 for taking over the flag were the ambassador of Italy to Egypt, Michele Quaroni, the president of the organizing committee Marco Fichera and the president of Coni Lombardia, Marco Riva. The eighth world championship organized in Italy will be valid for the Olympic qualification in Paris 2024 and, underlines the federation, it will be above all a great event that aims to go beyond sporting meanings, representing an extraordinary moment of promotion for fencing, for Milan and for the whole country.
