(ANSA) – PALERMO, 24 JUL – Nothing to do for the blue Lucia Bronzetti in her first final on the WTA circuit, at the Palermo Ladies Open tournament. The Rimini was defeated by a score of 6-2, 6-2 by the Romanian Irina Begu, who instead won her fifth career title, her first since 2017.
Bronzetti will still rise to position number 65 in the WTA rankings, which he had never reached until now, thanks to the victories obtained this week, including the one in the semifinals with Jasmine Paolini. For nine years an Italian had not reached the final at the internationals in Palermo, the last to succeed was Roberta Vinci who, however, on that occasion also managed to win the tournament.
Everything is easy in the match for Begu, who will find himself at # 33 WTA from tomorrow: always in control of the match, he left only a few points on the road for a couple of mistakes too many.
