Paris ’24: security and accounts, Macron takes stock 2 years after the start

(ANSA) – PARIS, 25 JUL – Emmanuel Macron today gathered the main players of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games to take stock of the situation, two years after the start. During the meeting in the Elysee gardens, in the heart of Paris, the French president addressed, in particular, the issues relating to security challenges and budgetary issues, the French presidency specifies. The Paris 2024 Olympics will be held from 26 July to 11 August 2024 in the French capital. Participants included the President of the Organizing Committee, Tony Estanguet, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, Ministers Bruno Le Maire (Economics), Gérald Darmanin (Interior) and Amélie Oudéa-Castéra (Sport).

After the chaos in the Champion’s League final at the Stade de France on 28 May, doubts emerged about France’s ability to ensure the safety of the Olympics and the French Court of Auditors recently expressed an alarming voice on the matter. After this morning’s meeting, Macron will meet the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach, who was present yesterday on the Champs-Elysées for the arrival of the Tour de France. Another meeting with Macron is planned after the summer break, with the Paris municipality, the Région Ile-de-france and the Comité olympique français (CNOSF). (HANDLE).
