The Monegasque closed his best lap in 1’18 “445, about three tenths faster than the 11” 750 of the Spaniard in the first free practices. The ranking of the times behind Leclerc then sees Lando Norris (McLaren, +0.217 thousandths), Sainz and Max Verstappen (Red Bull, +0.283). A little further apart, but within a second behind Leclerc, were Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren, +0.427), Fernando Alonso (Alpine, +0.604), Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin, +0.808), George Russell (Mercedes, +0.910), Sergio Perez (Red Bull +0.952) and Valtteri Bottas (Alfa Romeo, +0.966), Eleventh time for Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes +1.102).
