(ANSA) – PERUGIA, 30 JUL – Italy climbs on the podium in the world Micro Class of sailing. The Italian champions Lorenzo Carloia, Luca Coppetti and Stefano Garzi, bearers of the Castiglionese Sailing Club, won bronze at the 46th Micro World Championship 2022, the international sporting event that animated the waters of Lake Trasimeno, with 38 crews competing from eight different countries.
The winner was the Micro Class multiple world champion, the Polish Piotr Tarnacki, followed by compatriot Piotr Manczak.
Two almost perfect performances, with very few smudges, which underline how Polish sailors are lovers of this discipline, which has only been practiced in Italy for a few years.
Everything was decided in the last race with the Italians who managed to overtake the Pole Tomaz Szychowiak, third in the ranking until the penultimate day, managing to preserve the advantage. For the Umbrians this was the first world podium conquered.
There were three categories competing in this championship: Vintage, Racer and Cruiser. Italy also climbed the podium with third place in the Cruiser with Isabella Conciarelli, helmsman, Lisa Zucchini, Michele Barbieri of the Castiglionese Sailing Club and current Italian champions of the category. Conciarelli also won the prize as female helmsman while that of the youngest helmsman went to Margherita Mesini. The 46th Micro World Championship 2022 was organized by the Castiglionese Sailing Club, with the support of Micro Class Italia (ANSA).
