The Misano World Circuit turns 50

(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, 02 AUG – The Misano World Circuit, the Romagna circuit named after Marco Simoncelli, is about to end half a century. On Saturday the racetrack will celebrate 50 years: the first official races were in fact disputed on Sunday 6 August 1972. That day a full calendar of car trophies was scheduled with victories signed by drivers such as Arturo Merzario, Vittorio Brambilla and Giancarlo Martini.

Seven days later, on August 13, it was the turn of the bikes to officially debut in the new plant: Giacomo Agostini in 350, Renzo Pasolini in 250, Otello Buscherini in 125 and Guido Mandracci in 750 won. At full capacity, it is underlined, the circuit “represents an economic driving force of over 160 million induced in the heart of the Motor Valley, with a production of over 710,000 ‘room nights’, 90% of which is concentrated in the accommodation facilities of the province of Rimini “. (HANDLE).
