Canoe: World Championships in Canada, 18 Azzurri on Lake Banook

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 02 – The 2022 edition of the World Canoe Speed ​​and Paracanoa Championships starts tomorrow in Halifax, Canada, scheduled until Sunday, August 7. The blue expedition led by the dt, Oreste Perri, is made up of 18 athletes – including the Olympic silver medalist in Tokyo, Manfredi Rizza – who compete in the kayak and Canadian specialties over the distances of 200, 500 and 1000 meters.

The Canadian group will consist of world champions in the C2 500 Olympic distance, Daniele Santini and Nicolae Craciun, who will also compete on 1000 meters. Carlo Tacchini will be in the 500m single-seater, Mattia Alfonsi in the C1 200. In the kayak, the flagship boat of the K4 500 will be composed of Schera, Ripamonti, Freschi and Rizza (Aeronautica), while the female queen boat will be formed by Cicali, Rosa, Petracca and Fantini.

The big names of Paracanoa will also take to the water in Halifax with the blue team led by the director Stefano Porcu who will line up eight athletes in the lanes of Lake Banook. The team is led by the bronze medalist from Tokyo, Federico Mancarella, in KL2 with Christian Volpi.
