Boxing: tricolor match in Rome; 21/10 for superwelter title

(ANSA) – ROME, AUGUST 03 – Opi Since ’82, with the collaboration of Phoenix Gym and Arcesi Boxe, will open the autumn organizational season with a symbolic event, and already stimulating for fans: the match for the Italian title of Superwelter weights which will be held in Rome, Friday 21 October, between Francesco Russo (11-2-0, 9KO) and Francesco Sarchioto (15-1-0, 5KO). The meeting will be hosted by the ring colocated inside the Teatro Italia in via Bari 19, in the Nomentano district of the capital. A location chosen not by chance, because Opi Since ’82 has entered into an ongoing partnership with Teatro Italia itself, “to give a permanent home – it is underlined in a note – to Italian boxing”.

Russo-Sarchioto will be a Capitoline boxing derby between two boxers with character and, above all, with a combative attitude: a good mix for a challenge that promises to be spectacular, and further boosted by a historical setting such as the Teatro Italia, which in the years’ 50s and 60s hosted the traditional meetings of Roman boxing.

“We invest in Rome because we believe it is a very hot square, which just needs to find a managerial quality – explains Alessandro Cherchi, co-founder of Opi Since ’82 -. We have many Roman boxers for some time in our team, soon we will formalize others again, and therefore we need to make them fight in true and authentic atmospheres as only the Roman public can create “. So after the years spent at the Teatro Principe in Milan for the ‘Dazn Boxing Nightì in which they got into the ring and fought boxers like Paul Malignaggi, Maxim Prodan, Daniele Sacrdina and Nicholas Esposito, now the Roman square has been chosen. “Milan has the Allianz, Rome has to start from a new and welcoming home – explains Cherchi – and I think we can find the same energy as the Prince also in the partnership with the Teatro Italia in Rome, we strongly believe in this project”.
