(ANSA) – MUNICH, 11 AUG – On the inaugural day of the rowing competitions of the European Multisport in Munich, on the waters of the Feldmoching Olympic basin of the 1972 Games, Italy is already in the final after the first round of heats in seven specialties. To the four directly finalists (eight men, four with PR3 Mix and the two four of a pair Lightweight, male and female), from today’s heats are added the two double Lightweights medaled in Tokyo 2020, the female Olympic champion of Federica Cesarini and Valentina Rodini and the men’s bronze medal by Stefano Oppo and Pietro Willy Ruta, and the men’s single PR1 by Giacomo Perini.
All three blue boats win their respective heats and fly to the final – Cesarini and Rodini against eternal rivals from France, Oppo and Ruta on Portugal, Perini ahead of Great Britain – with the women’s light double and the men’s single PR1 that they also make the best time of qualifying.
