Rowing: Europeans; third gold today for Italy

(ANSA) – MUNICH, AUGUST 13 – Third gold medal for the Italian rowing team engaged today in the first European finals, in the Feldmoching Olympic basin, which hosted the 1972 Games.

After the successes of the men’s lightweight team Quattro and Giacomo Perini in the PR1 single of the paracanottaggio, the first place of the Senior Couple Quattro arrived, a test that is also part of the Olympic program, with the crew of Nicolò Carucci, Andrea Panizza, Luca Chiumento and Giacomo Gentili. The Azzurri won with a time of 6’06 ″ 77, ahead of Poland by 1 ″ 08, favorite on the eve, and Romania by 1 ″ 50.

Also today, two bronze medals arrived for Italy, with the male eight and the female senior double of Stefania Gobbi and Kiri Tontodonati, at the end of a comeback race that saw the two blue go from fifth to third place after recovering from Lithuania, and closing behind Romania and Holland. As for the 8, ‘the flagship’ returns to the continental podium after 10 years (in 2012 in Varese he took silver). Gold goes to Great Britain, silver to Holland.
